Project Description
OBJECTIVE: Develop new, authentic video content to strengthen interpretive content for state parks located on or adjacent to Native American communities and promote tourism to said communities.
Through my relationship with Montana State Parks, I identified a mutually beneficial opportunity. MSP wanted new content with more first-voice interpretation. My directive – to promote tourism to Native American communities – required content.
I designed a pilot project to feature state parks in southeastern Montana with modern or historical significance to the nearby Crow and Northern Cheyenne Tribes. After obtaining buy-in, partners worked together to identify the best stories and the best people to share them – all Native American members of the tribes, from the interview subjects to the filmmakers.
The Crow project featuring Chief Plenty Coups and Pictograph Cave State Parks would be the first off the ground, and is featured on Montana’s official travel website, VisitMT.com.
